Biographical Information

Savannah Brown is a dedicated and passionate middle school science educator with a strong educational background and extensive experience in teaching. She holds a Master of Science in STEM Education from North Carolina State University (expected May 2025), a Master of Arts in Teaching from Muskingum University, and a Bachelor of Science in Education from The Ohio State University. Savannah has demonstrated her leadership and commitment to education through various roles, including her current position at Swansboro Middle School, where she serves as an educator and Strategic School Improvement Team Leader. She actively collaborates with colleagues in Professional Learning Communities to create vertically aligned and cross-curricular curriculum tailored for middle school students. Her recognition as a grant recipient across multiple years and institutions further highlights her innovative teaching approach and commitment to providing high quality education to students in her area. Previously, Savannah worked as an 8th Grade Team Leader and Science Department Lead Teacher at Hunter's Creek Middle School in Craven County, where she also received multiple classroom grants. She has also participated in the Kenan Fellows Program for Teacher Leadership, gaining hands-on experience with clean energy trade programs and establishing connections that benefit students pursuing workforce opportunities. Savannah's commitment to professional development is evident through her receipt of the North Carolina Science Teachers Association Distinguished Service Award in 2024 and her role as a NASA Space Education Ambassador.
