Mission Statement
The science standards are in an amazing state of flux at this time. The challenges that are presented to NC schools need to be well defined so they can be addressed in a succinct and transparent manner. NCDPI will benefit from input from voices in our organization. Students have so many opportunities to grab the curiosity and follow it to performative learning. We are all tired of teaching to the test, we want students to wonder why things happen and give them the tools to answer those questions. There has never been a better time, with the current technology and level of discovery, for students to find a passion in science. As members of the NCSTA board, we have a voice to shout a call that can be heard and carried (at 342 m/s) across the state. We can be the driving voice in not just enhancing STEAM initiatives, but providing recognition for the teachers and schools that are leading the way every day!
