Examine ways to share the natural world with your students through nature journaling. Practice various journaling techniques as we explore plants and animals that can be found in most backyards, schoolyards, or local parks. Discover cross-curricular connections through activities that can be used in virtual and in-person classrooms.
To participate in this workshop, you must be a teacher, guidance counselor, media coordinator, or assistant principal in a public school from one of the following counties: Beaufort, Bertie, Bladen, Chowan, Columbus, Cumberland, Duplin, Edgecombe, Gates, Greene, Halifax, Hertford, Hoke, Hyde, Jones, Lenoir, Martin, Nash, Northhampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Robeson, Sampson, Scotland, Tyrrell, Warren, Washington, Wayne, Wilson, Vance
Credit: 8 contact hours toward CEUs or Criteria II/III for North Carolina’s Environmental Education Certification Program

Once you complete the online registration form, you will receive an email confirming that there is a space available in the workshop(s) you requested and an invoice for the deposit. You will need to return the invoice with the deposit within two weeks to confirm your space. If the workshop is already full at the time we receive your registration, you will be notified and placed on a waiting list. This workshop is being sponsored by the Simple Gifts Fund--- upon completion of the workshop your deposit will be returned to you along with an additional $25 travel stipend! (Net $25!)
Health and Safety Precautions:
- Participants and instructors will meet at Cliffs of the Neuse State Park.
- All workshop activities will be conducted in the outdoors.
- Face coverings are required when social distancing is not possible.
All in-person programs will follow current state and federal health guidelines and apply a range of safety measures to mitigate health risks, including smaller class sizes, moving into larger rooms (if indoors), keeping participants a safe distance from each other and increasing sanitation efforts. Please note that in-person programs are subject to change or cancellation depending on COVID-19 restrictions. A full refund would be provided in event of a cancellation.
