EENC is excited to announce that our 2021 Environmental Educators of North Carolina conference theme will be rEEmerge, honoring new beginnings as we celebrate EENC's 30th anniversary. We hope you will join us at Lutheridge Camp and Conference Center in Arden, NC September 10-11, 2021 as we re-imagine a post-COVID world for environmental education; a world with diverse partnerships, resilient communities, and a broader concept of what it means to be an environmental educator.
Along with celebrating our 30th anniversary we are also hosting the Southeastern Environmental Education Alliance (SEEA) conference this year. We welcome our EE colleagues from across the southeastern states to renew our love for environmental education, learn together, and grow together in a beautiful setting in EENC’s Western Section! Attendees at this year’s conference can look forward to on-site lodging and gorgeous grounds at Lutheridge, a peaceful and immersive setting after a hectic year for many in our field. We are excited to once again offer the pre-conference field trips, workshops, and opportunities you know and love on September 9. Look out for future announcements on our conference page as we get closer to opening registration in mid June!
We currently have open the call for proposals for the general sessions, proposals for the Research Symposium, and scholarship applications. See below for more details.
At this time, we are planning for an in-person conference, though we are making all necessary arrangements to host a virtual conference again this year if needed. EENC will decide by July 1 if the conference must be held virtually.

Our Research Symposium consists of a poster session on Friday, September 10 followed by oral presentations on Saturday, September 11.

This year, we ask that all presenters be prepared to transition to an online format in the event that a shift to a virtual conference becomes necessary.

Now Accepting Scholarship Applications
We work hard to make our conference as accessible as possible and know that the cost is a barrier for many. If you would like to attend the conference, but need financial assistance to make it happen, we invite you to submit a conference scholarship application! Scholarships will be awarded at three levels: full conference, one day, and half day. This year, we are excited to offer about $3000 in general scholarships, $1000 of which has been set aside specifically for to make it easier for students to attend.
EENC will once again award two Inclusion Scholarships to individuals who identify as people of color. This scholarship will cover the full conference registration plus an equivalent amount to be used for travel, additional meal expenses, and/or lodging.
If you would like to learn more or apply for a general, student, or Inclusion scholarship, please click the button below. Applications are due June 18.
