Theme: Science is Phenomenal
Strands
1/ Examining and presenting phenomenon-based science through modeling:
Educators are invited to share their lessons using phenomenon-based science. Showcase how real-world phenomena are used to drive inquiry, foster critical thinking, and empower students to construct their own scientific explanations. Explore strategies for effective modeling, questioning, data collection, and evidence-based reasoning through the lens of the new NC Science Standards.
2/Student-centered learning using the New NC Standards:
Educators are invited to share lessons focused on implementing effective student-centered learning strategies aligned with the new NC Science Standards. By empowering students with choices, collaboration, and authentic feedback, educators can foster student confidence, independence, and a lifelong passion for science while developing deep understanding and critical thinking skills.
3/ Nobody wins unless everyone wins! STEM for all: “Cultivating Inclusive and Equitable Science Classrooms"
Educators are invited to share lessons and strategies for creating inclusive science classrooms where all students, especially those underrepresented in STEM, can thrive. Participants will enhance their skills in culturally responsive teaching, building a sense of belonging, incorporating diverse perspectives, and mentoring underrepresented students through evidence-based practices.
