Dear NCSTA Friends,
I would like to thank all of you for your help and support for the 2004 Year. We had a great conference thanks to you, Ruth Page, and Ann McClung. The attendance was up and we finished in the black this year.

Congratulations to all the award winners. We have some great science educators in North Carolina. If you know someone that deserves an award go to www.ncsta.org/awards/ and nominate them now. Do not wait until next year. Kathy Johnson has been appointed as our new awards coordinator. You can also apply for the Curriculum Grant and the Study Grant go to www.ncsta.org/grants/. These were set up for NCSTA members so apply now.

We are trying to get the Building a Presence working in North Carolina. If it works correctly we should reach every science teacher in North Carolina. Building a Presence for Science is the largest networking initiative of the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA). This award-winning program is designed to improve the teaching and learning of science from Kindergarten through 12th grade. The Building a Presence for Science is creating a national network of advocates for science and offering them various resources, including professional development opportunities. If you would like to advertise a staff development or have science news please email me (ccelliott@msn.com) and I will send this out on Building a Presence network. If you are not receiving information from Building a Presence, please send me an email as well.

I will be your Professional Development Institute Coordinator for the 2005 conference. Sign up to present now. Do not wait! If you know of a great speakers or have ideas for the 2005 PD Institute please let me know .

Thanks for a great year!
Carolyn Elliott
