| .Trust Fund has new Chairperson Mike Jackson, former NCSTA president and board member, has been appointed by the current board to head up new efforts to increase the association trust fund. The fund was started back in the 80’s to give the association financial security and to fund teacher activities such as the annual conference and professional development. The fund currently has a balance of approximately $37,000. Jackson says that the goal is to increase the fund to a total amount of approximately $100,000 over the next three years. The funds will be used to support more professional development activities throughout the year and will also be used to provide more financial security for the association. Volunteers are needed to be on the committee to assist in fund raising and to raise the awareness of what the fund will do. The committee will seek donations from corporations that are located in North Carolina or those that do a large amount of business in the state. Donations will also be encouraged from individuals and members who wish to set aside funds in memory or in honor of friends or family members. Association members will also be encouraged to remember the trust fund in their wills or in other philanthropic activities. These individuals and corporations who do make donations to the trust fund will be recognized each year at the annual conference and in the newsletter. All donations made to the fund are tax free as NCSTA is a 501 (c) 3 organization. Those wishing to make donations or wanting more information can contact Dr. Jackson at 910-567-4072 or at mjackson4072@yahoo.com. |
