Nickens, Kimberlee Allum
Elementary
- Donna Moser - UNC-G
Mrs. Donna Moser did
her student teaching at General Greene Elem. Sch. in Greensboro. Her embrace
of science, recognition of its importance in the curriculum and ability
to integrate science into all areas of the curriculum are just three of
her outstanding traits. Donna also shows tremendous enthusiasm for her chosen
profession. Donna has carried over this enthusiasm and dedication to science
to her own 3rd grade classroom at Trindale Elementary school.
Her principal says she is her own "miracle of science." Congratulations,
Donna.
High
School - Kimberlee Allum - UNC-G
Kimberlee Allum is in
the grad. program at UNC-G. During her student teaching at Southwest Guilford
High, she brought with her enthusiasm, organization, confidence, and a desire
to reach every student. Kimberlee tells of doing an activity wit her students
on the peppered moths which seemed ingenious but was a total flop and left
the students confused and frustrated. She found that she by rework it, it
meet the learning styles of the students and learned the importance of teaching
the students, not the lesson. Kimberlee shows great promise as an outstanding
science teacher and we wish her well.

School - Mrs. Therese Nickens - NCSU
Therese Nickens is
a married housewife with a family of 3 sons and a husband. She has been
a registered nurse for 18 years earning several honors in that profession.
She is now working toward her teaching certification at NCSU. She has
fulfilled her student teaching requirements at Union Pines High School,
where she prepared labs, created tests and progress reports, tutored,
and designed focused lesson plans. Her background in the medical field
along and her patience with young people will help them realize their
dreams. Congratulations, Therese.
