Sophie
Jordan is an LD resource teacher at Dr. W.T. Griggs Elementary School
where she is lovingly known as "Mother Earth." She pursued her love
of nature through workshops and other studies and earned the NC Environmental
Teacher Certification. She has been a leader in developing the natural
habitat of her school for outside learning opportunities for all teachers
and students. Programs such as Project Wild, UTOTES, and Museum on a
Cart have been at her school. Sophie is now on the planning committee
for the new Whalehead Environmental Education Center on the Outer Banks.
This will be an outstanding educational benefit for all students who
visit it. And Jordan is to be thanks for all of this and more that she
has done for the students of her school and all of NC.
