Sherlton Broadnax - John A. Holmes High School

Sherlton Broadnax has been a biology teacher at Holmes High Sch. for 23 years and chair of the depart. for the last 5. For her, teaching is a "calling." She is dedicated to the concept of life-long learning, developing scientific explorers who are not fearful of uncharted waters. She has the strong belief that teachers must be "green and growing" not "ripe and rotting." She has sought out opportunities for growth such as being an instructor for the Math Science Enrichment network at Elizabeth City State Univ. Pre-College Research Program. Her unique quality of maintaining high expectations while demonstrating genuine care and concern for the students leads to their experiencing a high rate of success. For this master teacher, Sherlton Broadnax, we are forever grateful.
