District #4 Outstanding Science Teacher

Nancy Stephens--Scotland County High School

Nancy Stephens is the chemistry department at Scotland County High and prepares students for college with a firm foundation. Her high standards hold them accountable for everything from grammatical errors to the scientific method. She often sets up 2-3 labs a day to ensure her students' understanding of the concepts. Nancy is also there as an unofficial mentor for others, career teachers or interns, by always being prepared, setting up labs, preparing demonstrations, and being a valuable resource on school policies, discipline, and student/ teacher relationships. She is encouraging, never harsh, always speaking with compassion. Mrs. Stephens has greatly influenced in many positive ways several generations of Scotland County students and teachers, and for this we thanks you.
