District #5 Outstanding Science Teacher

Kenneth Melton--General Greene School of Science & Technology

Kenneth Melton has taught in Guilford County for 10 years mostly in an open school team integrating the science and math. Now in a self contained class at General Greene school he fits into this schools' magnet theme very well by integrating science and math into all subjects. Mr. Melton believes in field studies. His students are often seen marching to the nearest creek to participate in Stream Watch or Big Sweep, or making trips to the water treatment plant. They use "Windows in Science," Kid's Net, Challenge 24, Hands on Algebra, and SOLVE. Kenneth shares with other teachers through presentations for programs such as the Tapestry Program for Math and Science. For all you do, we thank you.
