Deanna Duncan--The School for Environmental Studies Cabarras County

Deanna Duncan is an 8th grade teacher at The School for Environmental Studies in Cabarras County. She is also lead teacher for this new magnet school which means she is responsible for curriculum development and staff training. This school offers a different approach to learning for students who have not performed well in traditional programs. The success of the first year was seen in the family atmosphere between students, faculty and parents, the change in attitudes in the students toward school and learning, and the increase in the applications for the school the second year. Much of this it due to the efforts of Dee Duncan, her untiring effort and dedication to providing a learning atmosphere where children can and want to learn. For this and much more, we thank you.
