Distinguished Service to Science Education Award-High School

Bobbie Hinson--Providence Day School

Bobbie Hinson is a biology, advanced biology and AP biology teacher at Providence Day School. She also serves as the sophomore class advisor, department chair, and the coordinator for projects such as AIDs Awareness, Bone Marrow Registry, Bloodmobile, and Science Fair. Her goal is to "provide opportunities and experiences students need in order to see the relevance of biology to their lives." Her students' success is evidenced by the list of doctors, physical therapists, nurses, researchers, and teachers among her former students. Bobbie has shared with others through workshops for AP teachers at UNCC and at NC State, and curriculum development with BSCS, and NC Biotechnology. She has presented sessions at state, regional and national meeting, and has served as NCSTA district director from 88-91 and as secretary from 91-95. Bobbie has dedicated her career to science education. And for all of this we thanks you.
